Big (A Multi-Sensory Sculpture Garden)

Large-scale sculpture garden encompassing 1 large outdoor and/or indoor venues designed to invite guests into the sculpture itself, utilizing sight, sound and guest interaction. Featuring over 35 artists, the garden will be composed of a main large-scale piece surrounded by smaller works along with contributions of multi-media artists and poets. Artists will be performing "live work." In addition to the main garden, there will be mobile venues with artists engaging visitors of the entire festival: leading people back to the main sculpture garden.

Flashback is an exhibit of music, photos, flyers, and memorabilia from the past 2 decades, highlighting some key moments in Chicago Hip-Hop history. It is the first in a series of many commemorative exhibits that salute those who have paved the way, opened doors, built foundations, and shaped what is now known as the Chicago Hip-Hop community.
The exhibit features a collection of material and mediums, and will run for the month of July with special presentations on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons.

A digital art piece by Chicago artist Ryan Scheidt along with Juan Salamanca, musician Wesley Imel and local group, Mang. Salamanca's program creates a random painting of projected light based on Scheidt's own method of chance based painting all the while live music runs directly to the source code effecting it in real time. Live performance with the installation: Friday, July 23rd at 9pm with Wesley Imel and with Mang on Saturday July 24th at 9pm.

Small uses size and space to engage the viewer in the smaller details rather than distance them in an attempt to see ‘the bigger picture’. The artwork will reignite an unspoken conversation that has been strained by the idea that art should be consumed rather than experienced. A diverse media mix of photography, sculpture, and painting encourages viewers to study, search, and revel in minutiae. All works displayed are under 8”X10”.

Community Mural Activity & Garden/Urban Agriculture Fair
Medill and Milwaukee
Lead mural artists: Iris Iris Pasic and Mendy Newman
Come paint with us and create the "Limit" mural!
Saturday July 24 & Sunday July 25
12pm-5pm Open Invitation Mural Painting.
Short lessons every hour at 12:15pm, 1:15pm, 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm.
All are welcome to participate: adults, children, families, seniors
Also visit the Garden/Urban Agriculture Fair: get some tips, see some demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities.
Seeking volunteer artists interested in participating in a community-created mural along the South End of the festival.
